Maryam Sodagar is the founder and principal at Sodagar Nielsen Law Group. She has been called to the BC bar in 2006 and the Ontario bar in 2007. Since she began her career, she has successfully represented clients in a broad range of complex family and immigration law matters. She has appeared before the BC provincial court, Supreme Court, Court of Appeal and the Federal Court.
Maryam’s practice focuses on the complex aspects of family law including multiple jurisdictions. In 2018, she also trained and became licensed as a mediator to better serve her clients. Her immigration practice focuses on economic and entrepreneur immigration including provincial nominees, inter company transferees and skilled immigration. Maryam has a clear and deep understanding of the importance of competent and effective legal counsel and provides the best of that to each and every client.

Education
Maryam was as a recipient of a full scholarship from the University of British Columbia where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree with a concentration in microbiology. She went on to law school in Ontario at the University of Windsor. It was there that she built a strong foundation for her career as a lawyer. Her final year of law school was an exciting one for her, both academically and personally. She took her final semester abroad at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark and there she met her husband and learned to speak Danish. In addition, she has travelled extensively in North America, Europe, Middle East and Asia. Having lived and worked in different continents, including Europe and Asia, she has made her well versed in dealing with clients from all over the world
