Maryam Sodagar, Principal, BSc, LLB
Maryam Sodagar is the founder and principal at Sodagar Nielsen Law Group. She was called to the BC bar in 2006 and the Ontario bar in 2007.
Maryam is also a trained and licensed family law mediator to better serve her clients.
Maryam has successfully represented clients in a broad range of complex family and immigration law matters. She has appeared before the BC Provincial Court, BC Supreme Court, Court of Appeal and the Federal Court.
Maryam’s practice focuses on the complex aspects of family law including those that span multiple jurisdictions.
Her immigration practice focuses on economic and entrepreneur immigration including provincial nominees, skilled immigration, and Global Talent Stream, intracompany transferees and other skilled work permits. Maryam has a clear and deep understanding of the importance of competent and effective legal counsel and provides the best of that to each and every client.
Maryam was a recipient of a full scholarship from the University of British Columbia where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree with a concentration in microbiology. She went on to study law in Ontario at the University of Windsor. Her final year of law school was an exciting one for her, both academically and personally. She studied her final semester abroad on exchange at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark where she met her husband and learned to speak Danish. Maryam has lived in North America, Europe, and the Middle East. Having lived and worked in many different countries has made her sensitive and attentive to the nuances of different cultures and the needs of her international clients.
